A History of RAF Skaw (AMES 56) – The Out-Post – Issue 8

This copy of the Outpost was issued in December 1941 and contains a number of seasonal messages and a programme of forthcoming festive events. One of the messages is from Captain WK Conachie of the Local Home Guard. The name Conachie will be familiar to those of you with Shetland connections as the family ran the main newsagents in Commercial Street, Lerwick, for many years. Another notable event was the organising of a Christmas Party for local children, a tradition which was resurrected after RAF Saxa Vord opened years after the War ended.
